I’ve spent quite a few hours over the last week or so moving this blog from Blogger to WordPress. Things have gone pretty much OK, allowing for much experimentation and I am now in the process of shutting down Blogger and moving things over. Inevitably, there will be some teething problems. The main one is [...]

Well, here I sit at my desk on Christmas Eve. With a huge burger from Midnight Express to one side, a large glass of Glenfiddich in front of me and Judas Priest streaming down the interwebnet from Planet Rock. Very seasonal. It’s been a hectic… however long since I last updated. I’ve been round umpteen [...]

Loong – can you resend the message? It dropped into my spam folder and I think I deleted it by accident

This time last year I was with Hans in Delhi. Time flies, doesn’t it? Another year older, another year less wise, but I’m happier this year than I was last for reasons many of you will know. The last few days have been – you guessed it – hectic. I’ve been round six resorts, including [...]

I thought I’d throw this one in. This blog was historically about my travels. In a way it still is as I’m working in France in the tourist industry and I’m getting to see some beautiful parts of the Alps. A “busman’s holiday” if you will. Thing is, I’m now blogging about work and I [...]

Some of it’s not even past date, but will [...]

…snowboarding! I managed to wangle a free pass and kit hire for Tignes and Val d’Isere courtesy of Chris, one of the regional managers. Who, incidentally, rocks. And who I now owe beer to. I spent the day by myself as the rest of the group I was with were all skiers and therefore tootled [...]

Dragging my carcass out of bed, I walked through the now settled snow to the hotel reception where we met the guys who would be giving is the practical lessons on winter driving. As it happened, both were in my chalet as well, but I walked over early anyway because I’m a swotty student like [...]

You didn’t wish hard enough. I never did get he wireless going. I also couldn’t hack into the wall-mounted system that provides the charged wireless as they’d changed the default password. Worth a shot, though. IT-wards, there was little to do so I spent the time keeping stranded people company and crushing cardboard boxes. The [...]

So a few more little stories. Before Ian left (I have been christened “New Iain” by everyone), we popped into the McD’s in Bourge on our way to Mirabel. It became painfully obvious through our dire pronunciation of French that we were actually English. Of course, the staff spoke English so took our orders in [...]
