A fair bit of travel today, and some reminders that prices do change compared to guide books. We checked out of the hotel around 10:00 aiming to be at the airport for 10:30. The cheapest way in Saigon is to use the local bus. Last time I was here, it was 1000d for a ticket [...]

Another quick post. We got to Hoi An in the early afternoon and – from what little we’ve seen so far – it’s stunning. A really beautiful little town with old wooden buildings and a great history. Hotel is cheap and great, but the wi-fi is a little dodgy. I’ll try to get some more [...]

Arrived in HCM City last night and got a nice little hotelly place. Free wifi (though I can’t get my wifi card to work under Ubuntu since a patch – grr) so hopefully time to whack a few updates on the site tonight before we fly off to Da Nang tomorrow.

I sat up really late the night before trying to get the wifi card working on my laptop (under Ubuntu – Windows works fine) but we still got up in the morning. We had breakfast in the 333 cafe over the street – a delicious array of fresh fruit and yoghurt. While we were there, [...]

Currently in Can Tho, the largest town in the Mekong area (according to Lonely Planet). Quite a trip here, which will – as usual – be documented in full when I have the time to embellish. My eyes are fine and Leah has a sore tummy, but it seems to be getting better! More as [...]

Our pickup was slightly late and it took an hour to get round all the hotels, partly as 2 people were having a late brekkie or had slept in or something. Quite a small group in all – us, a Dutch couple, a Korean girl, two Chinese/American women and a family of 3 from France. [...]

Just a quick post to keep you all on your toes. Full length ones will be posted in due course and once again apologies for the lack of lengthy updates. We arrived in Chao Doc (I hope I have that name correct) a couple of hours ago by boat from Cambodia. One night here then [...]

Again. As I did a lot of these things last year, there won’t be much in the way of extra details. If you want info on the things covered here, check out the earlier posts (Killing Fields, Tuol Sleng, Silver Pagoda / Wat Phnomh). Our tuk-tuk driver picked us up around 10:30. We rattled through [...]
