The following morning I re-checked my new flights. Amusingly, Tenerife South Airport’s website was still listing Globespan‘s two flights as on time. I’d spoken to a couple from Aberdeen who should have been on the other flight to me and they’d coughed up £1000 to get home. Ow. Another person told me a friend of [...]

Up early this morning to check on the situation regarding Globespan. A quick click onto their website and all seems fine. Flights still for sale, all hunky dory. Then onto the BBC website, the Telegraph, some travel industry site… “Globespan goes bust”, “Largest Scottish Air Carrier Collapses Leaving 5000 Stranded”. Back to Globespan’s page. A [...]

We’d picked a good day as the rain from Tuesday and the overnight downpour had cleared the sky. Nice blue sunshine blazed down as we pattered around the park trying the rides. There are long slow ones, and scary big ones. Ones you go down in a tube by yourself, some in doublers and a [...]

Today I took the opportunity to do something I rarely do: nothing. Well, not exactly nothing but very little. A lie in followed by a long read. A late – and large – full English breakfast. More reading. Some chilling, and then a bit of a relax. Christina and I then decided to make the [...]

My first full day on holiday was a) busy and b) my birthday. As mentioned yesterday, I decided to treat myself to a couple of dives, partly to try to make sure I didn’t need a PADI refresher as I’m required to dive every 6 months or I have to sit a course. Which is [...]

This was fairly last-minute so I didn’t really mention it much on here, but when I finished my school placements (and for other reasons) I just needed to get the hell away from the UK for a bit. Unwind, chill out, avoid the internet and pretend the rest of the world didn’t exist. Fortunately, I [...]

Well, I made it. Barcelona airport was a breeze, but a bore and the pilot we had managed the gentlest landing I think I’ve ever experienced. I slept virtually the entire flight seeing as I was up late blogging for you lot. Paris Charles de Gaulle (not Saint Germain… that’s a football team) is another [...]

With Sharon gone I had no excuse not to. I got up early (earlier than I wanted) and packed my bags for checkout, wolfed as much breakfast as my snot-filled head would allow me and stepped out into the depressingly overcast and cool day. I decided to mix filth with culture and paid a visit [...]

We didn’t have much planned today as it was Sharon’s last and she wanted to do some shopping in the morning. I had a lie-in – again I could have slept much longer – and met her just before midday when she checked out of her hostel. We took a toddle to the bottom of [...]

Our reason for travelling was to get to Figuera, the home of the Dali Museum (and a few other attractions). BOth of us felt lousy – I could have slept another few hours at least and my nasal passages were as rough as if I’d been snorting iron filings. Damn head cold! We managed to [...]
