Stayed there: 1st – 3rd July 2007
Rates: Usually 40 PLN per night upwards including breakfast, depending on room. I got it for 28 PLN – lucky booking when they had an offer!
Great place. A five minute walk from the train/bust station on a moderately quiet street. The doors are secure and reception is 24 hours with a camera watching your every move as you press the button to get in.
The staff are superb, very knowledgable, very helpful – bend-over-backwards, in fact. The place does have a few rough edges, but they add to the charm and the fact that things are sorted right away rather than “soon” is a huge bonus.
The included breakfast is a simple bread/butter/jam/cheese affair but good and filling. It’s also available from around 7:30 till sometime after midday and you can chow down as much as you like.
Bedrooms are clean enough, though the bunks are creaky. Light sleepers may need earplugs and short people ladders (they can be supplied!) to get to the upper ones.
The layout and decor are great with information and leaflets. The bathrooms and showers are sparkly and the showers themselves are nice and hot and powerful.
If I had one quibble it’s that there’s only one PC for (free) internet access though wireless is also in place. However, I rarely had to queue even in a half-full hostel.
It’s great being somewhere where the staff hang, chill and drink with the guests while still doing their jobs well.
